Life in Paris

  • 1. Have you ever visited Paris? What was it like? If not, would you like to?

    2. Would you like to live in a big city like Paris, London, or New York, etc? Why or why not? 

    3. Have you ever moved to a new city or town? How was it? What was difficult?

  • Listen to the audio and fill in the gap with the missing words. 

    Tom: Hi, Marie! How are you doing? How is life in Paris? 

    Marie: Hey Tom! I'm doing well. Living in Paris is ____________. There's so much to see and do! 

    Tom: What do you like most about Paris? 

    Marie: I love the beautiful _____________, like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum. They're amazing! 

    Tom: Are there many parks in Paris?

    Tom: That sounds fantastic! Do you enjoy living in Paris? 

    Marie: Yes, I do. There's always something new to explore. The city has a wonderful charm that I adore. 

    Tom: I'd love to visit Paris someday!  

    Marie: You should! It's a beautiful city with so much to offer.

    2. Landmarks: Important or easily recognizable structures or places that are often historically or culturally significant.

    3. Picnic: Outdoor meal, often taken in a park or countryside, where people bring food and enjoy eating in a casual setting.

    4. Delicious: Tasting very good or highly enjoyable, especially when referring to food.

    5. Pastries: Baked goods made with dough, such as croissants, cakes, or pies, often sweet and flaky.

    6. Getting around: Moving from one place to another, especially within a city or area, usually referring to transportation methods.

    7. Convenient: Easy to use, helpful, or suitable for a particular purpose, making things more comfortable or accessible.

    8. Charm: Something or someone attractive, pleasant, or appealing.

  • Step 1: Introduce the topic of living in another country or if they have visited France before. Ask students which cities they would want to live in and why. Introduce words like culture, going abroad, foreigner, etc 

    Step 2: Have the students discuss the warm-up questions. Ask for some answers after they are done. 

    Step 3: Play the audio. Have your students listen and fill in the missing words in the script. 

    Step 4: Have the students complete the vocabulary worksheet before or after the listening. This will depend on teacher preferences.  

    Step 5: Let the students discuss the discussion questions and elicit answers from them after they are done. You should get them to use the vocabulary in their discussions.   ​
