Looking for free ESL Teaching material for your classes? Trying to find good content to engage your students? Don't worry, we got you covered.

ESL teacher teaching a class.

It’s not easy being an ESL teacher. Like most ESL teachers, you’re probably teaching abroad, still adapting and learning the customs of a new country, wondering if it was all a mistake to come in the first place. Don’t worry, most ESL teachers have been in your position. ESL teaching offers its challenges but it can be one of the most exciting and rewarding jobs you will ever have.

There are, of course, obstacles to becoming a good teacher and getting accustomed to the job. As you will soon find out starting as an ESL teacher, it’s not always easy finding new material for your classes.  Some textbooks can either be outdated or very limited, giving you little curriculum to be flexible with your classes. It’s even harder when a lot of ESL companies don’t provide materials to their teachers and it’s entirely up to you to make lessons on your own. This can not only waste a lot of your time, but it can also cost you a lot of money.

That’s why we want to give teachers as much material as possible to make their jobs easier and their classes better. We want to take the stress out of teaching and give you more freedom to pursue your goals. No matter the experience or years of teaching, new content is the one thing ESL teachers are always on the lookout for. It not only helps energize students and gets them excited to learn English, but it also gives ourselves more freedom to experiment and craft the lessons that we want to teach.

The best way to start collecting your teaching material is by exploring. Explore through our free lessons and exercises to get your students busy and learning in the classroom. In order to not make your classes too repetitive, mix up your lessons with different exercises. The best way to do this is to have one class as a reading comprehension and then the other class as a listening comprehension. That way your students will be practicing and developing different skills, while keeping your lessons novel and engaging.

Need worksheets? We got you covered. With every free lesson of reading comprehension or listening comprehension comes with free pdf worksheet that have discussion/conversation questions, comprehension questions, and vocabulary exercises to challenge your students and make sure they are learning.

Get started with these basic topics and choose which level is best for your students.

Reading Comprehension

Education - Have your students talk about their school experiences, how to choose which university they want to go to, or discuss different learning and teaching styles.

Choosing a university and exploring campus.

Health - Read about how different diets and lifestyles can lead to longer lives. Have your students talk about their good and bad health habits, or create debates about fad diets and healthcare.

Travel - Get your students reading about alternative travel lifestyles like Van Life and digital nomads, the impact of Airbnb on travellers and residents, and sharing about about past travel experiences and dream trips in the future.

Listening Comprehension

Cities and Towns - Listen to conversations about living in different cities and how they compare to living in towns. These conversations are a great way to get your students to discuss their preferences for living in a city, town, or neighbourhood.

Compare cities and towns and read about London, England.

Technology - Listen to conversations about using technology responsibly, the effects cell phones have on our behaviour, and the challenges of A.I tools on influencing education. Get your students sharing their predictions for the future technology.

Festivals - Get discussions in the classroom by listening to conversations about different types of festivals, like Holi, Burning Man, and many others. Students can share their experiences and compare how they celebrate their national festivals and holidays.

Discussion Questions - A great way to have students engage with each other are discussion/conversation questions. We have plenty to explore, from simple warm-up questions to deep discussion questions. Start a conversation class by printing out the discussion question worksheets and hand them out to your students.

Use discussion and conversation questions to get students talking.

There is plenty to explore and more is on it's way. Stay tuned for more topics, exercises, group activities, listening and reading comprehensions, and grammar. We will also be launching a job board for ESL teachers experienced or beginner to find jobs and connect with agents and employers from all over the world!
